This site sets no cookies. Not one. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising identifier, no session cookie, no third-party embed and no tag manager, and there is nothing on the page loaded from another domain that could set one on this site’s behalf.

Most cookie policies list categories the site does not actually use, which makes the document useless as a description of anything. This one is an inventory of what is really there, and it is short because what is really there is one value.

The one thing stored in your browser

• Name. urbanuplink.consent
• Mechanism. Browser local storage, not a cookie. It is never attached to a network request, so unlike a cookie it is never transmitted to this server or to anyone else.
• Contents. Whether you accepted or declined, and the date you decided.
• Lifetime. Twelve months, after which the banner asks again.
• Purpose. Remembering the choice so you are not asked on every page.
• Legal basis. Strictly necessary for a service you explicitly requested. Storing the record of a consent decision does not itself require consent - the ePrivacy exemption covers it, and the same rule applies in Cyprus as across the EU.

Then why is there a banner at all?

Two reasons, and neither is that the law currently requires one here. The first is that the mechanism has to exist and work before any non-essential technology could ever be introduced - building consent in afterwards is how sites end up tracking people for a month before anyone notices the banner is decorative. The second is that a visitor has no way to verify the claim at the top of this page from the outside, so the control is offered rather than asserted.

If analytics or any other non-essential technology is ever added to this site, nothing loads until you have accepted, this page is updated to name it, and an existing decline continues to be honoured.
