Refund and cancellation
No payment is taken through this website. There is no checkout, no payment form, no card field and no payment provider connected to it. Nothing you can do on this site results in a charge, so none of the distance-selling refund rights that attach to an online purchase are triggered by anything here.
What follows covers a project invoiced directly, after a written quotation has been agreed. It exists because those terms should be readable before you commit, not after.
Deposit
Projects start on a deposit of 40% of the agreed price, invoiced when the written scope is accepted. The balance falls due when the production deployment is live and the repository has been transferred - not at an internal milestone, and not before you can see the result.
For hourly UX/UI work the arrangement differs: there is no deposit, hours are reported weekly and invoiced monthly in arrears against the agreed cap.
Cancelling before work starts
If you cancel after paying the deposit but before any work has begun, the deposit is refunded in full, less any third-party cost already committed on your instruction - a domain registration, a stock licence, a commerce subscription. Those are named in the quotation whenever they apply, so there is no surprise here.
Discovery and the written scope come before the deposit and cost nothing. “Before work has begun” therefore means before work on the design system has started - or, for a logo, before work on the first design has started.
Cancelling once the design system exists
The deposit stops being refundable once the design system has been produced and presented. That is deliberate and it is stated plainly rather than buried: the design system is the part of the work that cannot be reused for anyone else, and it is where the majority of the thinking in a project sits.
You keep everything produced up to that point. The design system files, any pages already built and the repository in its current state are handed over, with the same full assignment of rights that applies to a completed project. Nothing is withheld because the project stopped.
Logo projects
A logo has no design system, so the same line is drawn at the first design: the deposit stops being refundable once the first design has been presented. If the project ends after that - including when nothing is close after the second revision round - you keep every design drawn so far, with full assignment of rights, and owe nothing beyond the deposit.
Cancelling during the build
Either side can end the engagement at any point during the build, in writing. When that happens:
- work stops on the date of the notice, and no further hours or milestones are billed;
- an invoice is issued for the work completed to that date, measured against the pages and deliverables actually produced rather than against elapsed time;
- the deposit is set against that invoice, and anything paid beyond the value of the work done is refunded within fourteen days;
- everything produced is transferred to you: repository, design system, built pages, and any credentials created for the project.
Cancellation by this side
An engagement is ended from this side only for a substantive reason - an invoice unpaid past its terms, a scope that has changed into work that is declined, or a breakdown in being able to get decisions. If that happens, the same accounting applies in your favour: you are billed for work completed, the balance of anything paid is returned within fourteen days, and everything produced is handed over.
Consumers
These arrangements are written for business clients, which is who this studio sells to. If you are contracting as a consumer rather than as a business, the mandatory consumer rights of your country of residence apply in addition to the terms above and are not reduced by them, including any statutory withdrawal period. Say so at the quotation stage and the terms are adjusted to reflect it.
How to cancel, and how to raise a problem
Write to info@urbanuplink-ltd.com. A written reply confirming the position and the amounts follows within one working day.
If you disagree with an amount, say so in that reply and it is worked through before anything is escalated. Disputes that cannot be resolved are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, as set out in the terms of use.
